Shoplifting Charge Dismissed in the Providence District Court 5/26/2020

May 2020

We at Marin and Barrett, Inc. are happy to announce another successful outcome.  Specifically, the dismissal of a shoplifting charge in Providence County District Court.  The police were called to a local supermarket after a shopper had been apprehended after failing to scan all of the items at the self-checkout station.  The police compared and the goods and the receipt and concluded that some items had not been paid for, and arrested our client on a shoplifting charge.

After doing a thorough workup of our client's history, we were able to reach an agreement with the police department and the store to dismiss the charges upon completion of nominal conditions.  The case was dismissed after a single court appearance.  If you or a loved one is facing a misdemeanor or felony shoplifting charges in Rhode Island, give the criminal defense team at Marin and Barrett, Inc. a call for immediate and experienced legal advice and representation with theft and shoplifting cases.
