Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed in the Newport District Court on November 3rd, 2022

November 2022

CHARGE: DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Marin & Barrett, Inc. is again pleased to announce the successful resolution of a domestic violence offense in Newport County District Court.  In this case, the police were called for a domestic disturbance to find the “victim” hysterically crying and claiming to have been assaulted.  With almost no hesitation whatsoever, the police arrest our client on domestic assault charges.

After being retained we began to investigate the case, including speaking with the victim.  After it became clear that the stories did not add up, we put together a defense for the prosecution's consideration.  While initially skeptical, the State ultimately agreed to reduce the charges to preserve our client's record and ability to see his children – a great outcome.

RESULTS: DOMESTIC ASSAULT CHARGES DISMISSED on November 3rd, 2022
