CHARGES:
(1) DOMESTIC SIMPLE ASSAULT
(2) DOMESTIC VANDALISM
(3) RESISTING ARREST
Attorney Angelica Bovis of Marin and Barrett Law Firm successfully defended a case involving a client charged with domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism, and resisting arrest. The charges arose from a domestic disturbance between the Client and her husband, leading to police involvement by the Cranston Police Department.
Upon arrival, the police noted prior domestic disturbances between the couple one month prior, which heightened the seriousness of the situation. The Client's husband reported an assault and damage to his vehicle, resulting in the client facing additional charges of domestic vandalism. Furthermore, the Client was charged with resisting arrest.
In light of the circumstances, Defense Counsel Angelica Bovis, swiftly took action to modify the no-contact order, allowing the Client to communicate with her husband. Recognizing the importance of counseling and reconciliation, Defense Counsel ensured the client's participation in counseling and marriage counseling, aiming to achieve a more favorable outcome. Despite a prior charge and the complexity of the case, Defense Counsel secured a favorable resolution in which Count 2 was dismissed and Counts 1 and 3 were filed meaning they will be eligible to be expunged from the Client's record after 3 years.
