Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest Charges Dismissed in the Providence District Court on November 21st, 2022

November 2022

CHARGES:
(1) DISORDERLY CONDUCT
(2) RESISTING ARREST
(3) OBSTRUCTION

We at Marin and Barrett never tire of celebrating dismissed cases, so here is another one.  The police were called to a disturbance at a bar where a highly intoxicated person was starting fights with bar patrons.  When the police arrived, our client was combative and attempted to flee the police before ultimately being tracked down and apprehended, and charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction, and resisting arrest.

Oftentimes cases are won not on the facts of the case itself, but on the background of the defendant and our ability to demonstrate to the prosecution the accused's good qualities and this case was no different.  We were able to impress upon the State that even though our client was responsible, that the case should still be dismissed.  After several conferences and negotiations we were able to do just that.  Now our client is back to having a clean criminal record.
