DUI Charges Dismissed in the Providence Superior Court on January 16th, 2024
January 2024
CHARGE: DUI (FIRST OFFENSE)
Our client was facing a DUI charge following a car crash while driving a rental car in East Providence. The circumstances were challenging, but Attorney Kensley Barrett with the Marin, Barrett, and Murphy Law Firm took immediate action to secure the best possible outcome.
Our legal team thoroughly reviewed the discovery and evidence in this case. We argued on behalf of our client, a US Military Veteran from out of state, highlighting his disabilities, which contributed to his disorientation while driving in an unfamiliar place. We presented a strong case to the prosecution.
Through skillful negotiations, we achieved a favorable resolution. The State of Rhode Island agreed to dismiss the DUI charge, sparing our client from mandatory sanctions associated with a DUI conviction, including the loss of a driver's license, mandatory alcohol education courses or treatment, community service, and costly fines. Instead, our client made a voluntary contribution of $1,000.00 to the Victims of Crime Indemnification Fund (VCIF). By securing this outcome, our client avoids not only the mandatory sanctions but also a DUI conviction and potential probation, ensuring a brighter future.
CASE RESULT: DUI CHARGE DISMISSED after a voluntary contribution of $1,000.00 to the Victims of Crime Indemnification Fund (VCIF), securing our client's future and freedom on January 16th, 2024.
