Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed in the Newport County District Court in April 2022

April 2022

CHARGES:
(1) DOMESTIC VANDALISM
(2) DOMESTIC DISORDERLY CONDUCT (R.I.G.L. 11-45-1)

We are happy to report another successfully defended domestic violence offense out of Newport County.  Our client contacted us immediately after having been arrested for a domestic dispute with a significant other.  The police received a call alleging that our client had ransacked an apartment and broken many of the items inside in a fit of rage.  When the police arrived our client was promptly taken in custody and charge with two domestic violence offenses.

After speaking with the witnesses and the prosecution we were able to determine that the initial call was not nearly as severe as the Police had anticipated – as is often the case.   After some negotiation with the landlord we were able to resolve the case for a nominal financial settlement and a complete dismissal of all the criminal charges.  Having been fully exonerated our client is back to having a perfectly clean criminal record.

RESULTS: CHARGE DISMISSED in April 2022

Practice area(s): Criminal Defense, Domestic Violence
