March 2016
CHARGES:
(1) DISORDERLY CONDUCT (FIGHTING, VIOLENT, THREATENING, TUMULTUOUS BEHAVIOR)
(2) SIMPLE ASSAULT AND BATTERY
The Law Offices of Matthew T. Marin, Esq. Inc. can report the DISMISSAL and EXPUNGEMENT of disorderly conduct and simple assault charges that had been brought against a Client in the Newport County District Court. The charges stemmed from a bar fight in which some patrons of the bar were injured. Those patrons cast the blame for their injuries on our Client, a U.S. Coast Guard service member who was at the bar with some colleagues. After our investigation, we were able to provide the prosecution with multiple service member witnesses that provided consistent accounts that directly contradicted the injured patron's account. After some extensive pre-trial negotiations, the Prosecution agreed to drop the charges which were subsequently expunged from our Client's record.
RESULT: BOTH CHARGES DISMISSED AND EXPUNGED from our Client's record on March 22nd, 2016
Practice area(s): Criminal Defense
