Firearms Charges Resolved with 5-Year Deferred Sentence in Kent County Superior Court on 11/2/23
November 2023
In a case with unique circumstances, our client, a truck driver, found himself facing serious charges in Kent County Superior Court. While operating his tractor-trailer through Rhode Island, our client was involved in a motor vehicle accident. This incident led to his hospitalization, accompanied by an unexpected turn of events. During a standard inventory search of the sleeper compartment of his vehicle, the police discovered a pistol in his possession, for which our client had no license, neither in Rhode Island nor any other state. Consequently, he was arrested and charged with the possession of a pistol without a license.
Our dedicated defense attorney, Angelica Bovis, recognized the complex nature of this case and embarked on a comprehensive defense strategy. Through meticulous legal research, persuasive memoranda, and skillful negotiations, Attorney Bovis worked relentlessly to secure a favorable outcome for our client. The goal was to mitigate potential sanctions and eventually have the case expunged from our client's record.
We are delighted to announce a successful resolution in Kent County Superior Court. After skillful advocacy, our Client has received a 5-year deferred sentence with no additional special conditions. This outcome not only provides our Client with the opportunity to move forward but also ensures that the case can be expunged from his record upon successful completion of the deferred sentence agreement.
