Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Speeds Below Minimum Dismissed in Washington County District Court on March 21st, 2023

March 2023

CHARGES:
(1) POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR
(2) SPEEDS BELOW MINIMUM

Attorney Angelica Bovis of the Marin and Barrett Law Firm successfully defended a case involving a client charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and speeds below minimum. The client was pulled over by the Narragansett Police for operating too slowly on Route 1. After a brief interaction, the officer observed sealed alcohol in the back seat. The officer cited the client for traveling below minimum speeds and charged them with a misdemeanor possession of alcohol by a minor.

Attorney Bovis took issue with the initial reason for the traffic stop and challenged the police department, asserting that the stop was not justified, and therefore the alcohol should have never been discovered. After some discussions, Attorney Bovis was able to secure the dismissal of all charges for the young college student Client prior to arraignment.

CASE RESULTS: ALL CHARGES DISMISSED on March 21st, 2023.
