Obstruction Charges Dismissed in the Washington County District Court on 8/28/2020

August 2020

CHARGE: OBSTRUCTING OFFICER IN EXECUTION OF HIS DUTY (R.I.G.L. 11-32-1)

The Rhode Island criminal defense attorneys at Marin & Barrett, Inc. are happy to report another dismissed criminal case.  Our client was arrested by a local police department after he was approached by police in a parking lot and accused of reckless driving and numerous aggressive driving offenses.  After initially denying any involvement, he then came clean and admitted that he had been responsible for the driving.  He was then not only charged with the moving violations, but also with a criminal charge of Obstruction of Justice.

Like many people, our Client relies on his vehicle and driver's license to make a living and made it clear that keeping both were of the utmost importance.  We therefore tailored his defense to accomplish just that.  We were able to negotiate with the prosecuting police department an arrangement that not only kept our client on the road, but also dismissed the criminal charges outright – all without ever having to set foot in a courthouse.

RESULTS: OBSTRUCTION CHARGE DISMISSED on August 28th, 2020
