Just before midnight on December 12th, a motor vehicle operated by a Johnston firefighter crossed over the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle. Officers responding to the scene identified unopened cans of beer outside of his vehicle and he showed signs of intoxication. He was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
