Prior Experience
Attorney Marin worked as a Rule 9 intern at the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General prior to founding the firm in 2008, prosecuting probation and bail violation hearings in Providence courts and handling chemical test refusal cases at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal.
Notable Cases
State v. Zimmerman (2015)
Rhode Island District Court. Attorney Marin obtained the first suppression of breath test results in Rhode Island based on deficiencies in the DUI Rights for Motorists form, before District Court Judge William C. Clifton. The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office subsequently revised the statewide form 15 days after the ruling. Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly identified Marin as "at the forefront" and "leading the charge" among criminal defense attorneys advancing this constitutional challenge.

State ex rel. Coventry Police Department v. Charlwood (2020)
Rhode Island Supreme Court. Lawyers Weekly No. 60-010-20. Docket No. 2017-388-M.P. Co-counsel with Nicholas J. Parrillo. The Rhode Island Supreme Court reversed the District Court and granted record sealing under G.L. §12-1-12, holding that a motorist charged with a civil traffic violation who was detained by police qualifies as a person "detained by police, but not arrested or charged with an offense." Chief Justice Suttell wrote the opinion.

State v. DiSalvo (2020)
Washington County Superior Court. Lawyers Weekly No. 61-011-20. C.A. No. W2-2018-0273A. Before Judge Melanie Wilk Thunberg. Attorney Marin obtained dismissal of drug trafficking charges under the Good Samaritan Overdose Prevention Act of 2016 (G.L. §21-28.9-4). The ruling established three significant holdings: (1) the person who experiences the overdose is immunized — not only a bystander Good Samaritan; (2) a full overdose is not required, a drug-related medical emergency suffices; (3) possession with intent to distribute is immunized as a crime related to possession of a controlled substance.

State v. Corcoran (2022)
Rhode Island Supreme Court. Lawyers Weekly No. 60-044-22. Attorney Marin filed the motion to suppress, participated in the evidentiary hearing, and argued the motion before Washington County Superior Court Judge Melanie Wilk Thunberg, who granted suppression. The Rhode Island Supreme Court unanimously affirmed, holding that a defendant's continuous accompaniment by officers at an accident scene constitutes custody requiring Miranda warnings before questioning. The decision changed DUI arrest procedure statewide. Firm associate Nicholas J. Parrillo argued at the Supreme Court level.

Attorney Murphy secured not guilty verdicts on chemical test refusal (R.I.G.L. §31-27-2.1) and speeding following a two-day bench trial before a Traffic Tribunal magistrate. The State's own body camera footage established no indicia of impairment, defeating the required element of reasonable belief of impairment under §31-27-2.1. Attorney Murphy challenged HGN test admission and cross-examined the arresting officer. The concurrent first offense DUI charge (§31-27-2) was subsequently dismissed by the State in District Court. No conviction, no license suspension, no fines, no DUI education requirement.
