Felony Drug Possession Charges Dismissed in Newport Superior Court on 8/28/2020

August 2020

CHARGES: FELONY POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (COCAINE)

The criminal defense lawyers at Marin & Barrett, Inc. are happy to report the outright dismissal of the charge of felony possession of cocaine that had been brought against our Client in the Newport Superior Court.  In July of 2019 our Client was celebrating a friend's bachelor party at the Twin River Casino in Tiverton, Rhode Island.  Security was called to the room due to loud noise.  Inside the room, Twin River Security seized a small amount of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.  Our Client was the only suspect identified by Twin River Security so when the local police department was called, he was quickly arrested and the drugs were pinned on him.

Once we began working with the Client, he made it clear that getting the charges off of his record was of utmost importance.  To that end, we fast-tracked his case into the Rhode Island Superior Court Diversion Program.  After successfully entering and completing the program, we were able to have the charge pending against our Client dismissed and expunged from his record.  We were not only able to have him removed from bail and avoid probation, but also to now enjoy a fully cleared criminal record.

RESULTS: ALL CHARGES DISMISSED on August 28th, 2020
