Felony Assault and Gun Charges Dismissed in the Providence County Superior Court on 8/28/2020

August 2020

CHARGES:
(1) FELONY ASSAULT WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON
(2) CARRYING A PISTOL WITHOUT A LICENSE
(3) USING A FIREARM WHILE COMMITTING A CRIME OF VIOLENCE
(4) POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

The criminal defense attorneys at Marin & Barrett, Inc. are extremely pleased to report the complete dismissal of several violent firearm offenses that had been brought against a Client in the Providence County Superior Court.  In July of 2019, the police were called to a residence in Providence after a dispute in which one man allegedly brandished a firearm at another.  Police came and performed a brief investigation before ultimately arresting our client and charging him with felony assault and multiple gun charges.

After retaining us to help fight the case, we immediately got to work both reviewing the evidence and creating a portfolio of our client's history for the court.  After scrutinizing the facts it became clear that our client was not entirely responsible for what had taken place.  Nevertheless, given the severity of the charges and potential years in prison, that was not enough to get the case dismissed outright.  However, we were able to get our client admitted into a diversion program which he successfully completed.  The case has since been dismissed in total and fully sealed from his record.  He not only avoided jail time and even probation, but walks away with a free and clear criminal record.

RESULTS: ALL CHARGES DISMISSED on August 28th, 2020
