The criminal defense attorneys at Marin & Barrett, Inc. are extremely pleased to report the complete dismissal of four felony theft related charges that had been brought against our Client in the Providence County Superior Court. In July of 2016, the Rhode Island State Police initiated an investigation into alleged embezzlement by a group of employees at a local service business. Their investigation lasted two and a half years before our Client and two co-workers were arrested and charged with four felony embezzlement related charges.
After retaining us to help fight the case, we immediately got to work both reviewing the evidence and advising our Client about the steps they can take to improve his situation. Our Firm referred the charges to the Adult Diversion Program due to the fact that our Client had no criminal history and the allegations were not violent or otherwise ineligible for the Diversion Program. The alleged victim and the Prosecutor's Office vehemently objected to the Court accepting our Client's case into the Adult Diversion Program. After listening to the alleged victim and the Prosecutor as well as our legal arguments, the Court agreed to accept the case into the Adult Diversion Program. Our Client was able to stay out of trouble and in compliance with all the other required Diversion conditions per the Diversion agreement and all four felony charges were dismissed on February 17th, 2022. Additionally, the Superior Court Ordered our Clients record expunged so they walk free and with a clear criminal record.
RESULTS: ALL CRIMINAL CHARGES DISMISSED AND EXPUNGED on February 17th, 2022
