Domestic Violence Charges Dismissed in Providence District Court on 7/8/2020

July 2020

The criminal defense attorneys at Marin & Barrett, Inc. are pleased to report another successfully exonerated client.  The case arose when the Providence Police were called after the report of a disturbance between a man and a women the ended with the man allegedly striking her.  After arriving and conducting an investigation, the Providence Police arrested our client and charged him two misdemeanor domestic violence offenses; domestic simple assault and battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

After we were hired to defend our Client, we conducted our own defense investigation.  After speaking with all parties involved and reviewing independent evidence from a nearby restaurant, we were able to determine that our client was acting in self-defense and was not the primary aggressor in the altercation.  Armed with this evidence, we expedited our Client's court date and facilitated a prompt dismissal of all charges, ensuring that our client maintained his clean criminal record.
