Rhode Island Drug Case: Bristol police seize drugs, arrest man with multiple charges

Bristol Police charge Manuel Chaves, 33, with three felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Intent to Deliver.

Chaves was arrested on Friday, Feb. 3, in the parking lot behind the Cup Defenders Association in Bristol after police found two grams of cocaine in his possession. Police then executed a search warrant for his home.

At Chaves' residence, officer seized approximately 50 grams of cocaine, oxycodone, methadone, illegal steroids, numerous prescription pills, scale ledgers, cell phones, computers, and almost $700 in cash.

Police also arrested Durval Cordeiro, 41, who was seated in the back of the vehicle with Chaves, for possession of methadone.

The Bristol Police Department says Chaves is known for having pending illegal narcotics charges in Bristol, Warren and Middletown.

He was arraigned on Feb. 4, held without bail and transferred to the ACI.
